Tax Credits
The ATTC is a refundable tax credit that applies to eligible
expenditures incurred after May 18, 2004 in hiring qualifying
apprentices in qualifying skilled trades in Ontario.
There are several criteria that have to be in place to determine
eligibility. These criteria include the type of industry that
you are in, the relative wage expenditures made by your company,
details relating to the specific terms of the apprenticeship
and nature of the apprenticeship. Applications have to be in
accordance with strict Government requirements. Errors or omission
in completing the applications could result in costly denials
of refund. We have extensive experience in filing these refund
claims and would be glad to assist you in this area.
There is also a Federal Apprenticeship Job Creation Tax Credit
i.e. the AJCTC. This is applicable to eligible apprentices in
respect of employment after May 1, 2006. As with the Provincial
credit there are qualifying factors which have to be considered
including types of prescribed trades and salary considerations.
To avoid costly errors and omissions let us assist you with
filing these credits.
Other Corporate Tax Credits
Additional Corporate Tax Credits include the Graduate Transition
Tax Credit which applies to the employment of unemployed graduate
students and the Co-operative Education Tax Credit which applies
to the employment of eligible students. There are several other
credits which are industry specific. If you are not claiming
these types of available credits you are unnecessarily harming
your bottom line. Let us file these credits for you to ensure
compliance with the strict Government filing requirements.
